Description
The Garand, Model M-1 rifle is considered by many historians to be the most important rifle ever invented. Developed at the United States Armory here in Springfield by John Garand, the semi-automatic gave American soldiers in World War II a decided advantage in firepower over enemy forces using bolt-action rifles. Over the four years of the war more than 3.5 million M-1s were manufactured by the Springfield Armory, one of the greatest industrial accomplishments of the era.
The M1 rifle is a .30 caliber, gas-operated, eight-shot clip-fed, semi-automatic rifle. It is 43.6 inches (1,107 mm) long and it weighs about 9.5 pounds (4.31 kg). The M1's safety catch is located at the front of the trigger guard.
This variant of the Garand, Model M-1 is a August 1943 Model (most likley used in combat, however not comfirmed)
