BAD-EMC-IC Enhanced Magazine Catch
- Process: Investment cast (mil-spec comparable process)
- Material: 8620 heat-treated steel
- Finish: Black phosphate
- Construction: One-piece design (not two-piece)
- Design: Lightweight fluted profile
- Threaded pin length: Shorter to reduce installed button profile on solid-face buttons
- Compatibility: Works with mil-spec magazine release buttons and enhanced buttons (BAD-EMR, BAD-EMMR, etc.)
- Weight: 0.25 oz (vs. 0.32 oz typical mil-spec)
Button Option A: BAD-EMR (Enhanced Magazine Release) – Black
Precision CNC machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum (not 6061) with a black anodized finish, the BAD-EMR features a fully solid “V”-shaped face with horizontal serrations (no through-hole). The concave V-groove self-centers the index finger for consistent engagement, while the serrations improve traction during activation and help minimize drag during finger retraction. A lightweight, skeletonized rear offsets weight from the solid face, keeping overall mass comparable to a standard mil-spec button.
- Material: 7075-T6 billet aluminum
- Finish: Black anodized
- Face: Solid V-groove with horizontal serrations
- Fit: Compatible with lower receivers that accept mil-spec magazine release buttons
- Development: Product developed in conjunction with Forward Controls Design
Button Option B: BAD-EMMR-L-B (Enhanced Modular Magazine Release – Large Finger Pad) – Black
CNC machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum with a black anodized finish, the BAD-EMMR uses a patent-pending three-sided dovetail finger-pad attachment system for strength, a clean uninterrupted pad face, and a lightweight, low-profile package. The interchangeable pad system enhances ergonomics and ease of operation without requiring the shooter to shift grip position—ideal for users who want modularity and a refined control surface.
- Material: 7075-T6 billet aluminum
- Finish: Black anodized
- Mechanism: Patent-pending three-sided dovetail finger pad attachment
- Ergonomics: Interchangeable pads for improved feel and control
- U.S. Patents: US 9,518,792 and US D779,620
Compatibility Notes
- AR15: Designed around mil-spec AR15 magazine release interfaces.
- AR10 / .308 platforms: Due to platform variances, fitment can vary by receiver pattern.
- Important: The magazine catch noted here will not work with .308 receivers.
- Note: Due to variations in AR308 platforms, the PK2 (EMMR) may not work with all receivers; a known compatibility issue exists with Aero M5 receivers.
