Learn more about weapon light & laser mounts
Weapon light and laser mounts attach compatible illumination and aiming devices to firearm accessory interfaces. Mounts vary by rail type, attachment method, offset, height, orientation, device footprint, and manufacturer compatibility.
Weapon Light Mounts
Weapon light mounts secure compatible lights to rifle, carbine, shotgun, and other firearm mounting systems. Options can include direct mounts, offset mounts, inline mounts, rail-mounted adapters, and device-specific mounting hardware.
Laser Mounts
Laser mounts secure compatible visible or infrared laser modules to a firearm. Some laser systems include an integrated mounting interface, while others may require a separate adapter, plate, clamp, or rail section.
Picatinny Mounts
Picatinny light and laser mounts attach to compatible cross-slot rails. Picatinny mounting is common on rifles, carbines, shotguns, handguards, and accessory rail sections.
M-LOK Mounts
M-LOK mounts attach directly to compatible M-LOK slots and can reduce the need for a separate Picatinny rail section. Direct M-LOK mounting may also help position a light or laser closer to the handguard.
Choosing a Light or Laser Mount
- Device Compatibility: Confirm the mount is designed for the exact light, laser, illuminator, or combination unit.
- Rail Interface: Match the mount to Picatinny, M-LOK, or another supported firearm mounting system.
- Position: Consider whether an inline, offset, angled, or direct mount provides the preferred accessory location.
- Clearance: Check available space around optics, sights, suppressors, handguards, switches, and other installed equipment.
Offset Light Mounts
Offset mounts position a light or laser away from the center of the rail. This can help move the accessory closer to the side of a handguard or create clearance around other equipment.
Inline Mounts
Inline mounts position a compatible accessory more directly along the mounting surface. Depending on the firearm and device, this can provide a simple, compact mounting arrangement.
Angled Mounts
Angled mounting systems position an accessory between traditional top, side, or lower rail positions. They can be useful when rail space is limited or when accessory placement needs to avoid interference with other equipment.
Direct-Mount Systems
Some lights and lasers support mounts that attach directly to the device body rather than using a separate rail clamp. Direct-mount compatibility is often manufacturer- or product-family-specific.
Mounting Adapters
Adapters can allow compatible lights or lasers to attach to a different rail or mounting standard. Verify both sides of the interface—the firearm mounting system and the accessory attachment pattern—before purchasing an adapter.
Mount Height & Accessory Clearance
Mount height and offset affect how closely a light or laser sits to the firearm. Clearance may be important around front sights, suppressors, muzzle devices, optics, handguards, sling hardware, and switch systems.
Remote Switch Placement
Mount position can influence the placement of compatible remote switches and pressure pads. Consider switch accessibility and cable routing together with the light or laser location.
Material & Construction
Mounts may be manufactured from aluminum, steel, polymer, or combinations of materials. Construction influences weight, strength, corrosion resistance, and durability.
Hardware & Fasteners
Mounting systems may use screws, cross bolts, clamps, T-nuts, or other hardware. Use only the fasteners and installation methods recommended for the specific mount and firearm interface.
Installation & Inspection
Follow the firearm, accessory, and mount manufacturers' instructions for positioning, hardware, and installation. Periodically inspect the mount, fasteners, accessory body, rail interface, and related hardware for movement, looseness, corrosion, wear, or damage.
